Hiring Process
Application
Each application is scored based on education, training, and experience. It is critical to include as many applicable details as possible in your application in order to be properly assessed. Your initial score will be based on your answers to the supplemental questions. Human Resources will conduct a final review of the applications before referring the top candidates to the hiring manager.
Interviews
The top candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews are conducted by the Hiring Manager and Human Resources. The following are some tips to be properly prepared for your interview:
- Arrive early and ensure you have the correct location
- Dress professionally
- Put your cell phone away and silence it
- Research the position and County
- Prepare questions for the interviewers – remember you also need to ensure Nicollet County is the right fit for you too!
- Feel free to bring notes with prepared answers to anticipated questions – having the notes can help trigger answers to questions if you draw a blank – especially if you are nervous!
First and second interviews are conducted for all positions. Once those have concluded, other background information is obtained – this may include:
- Calling references
- Contacting previous or current employers
Once we have gathered all of our information, we are prepared to make a contingent offer. All offers are contingent on a satisfactory background check. Some positions also require a Drug test and/or more in depth background checks.
Notifications
At each step in the hiring process we communicate with candidates via email their status. So be sure to check your email frequently.
