The Buffer Law was signed by Governor Dayton in June 2015. It requires small areas or buffers of perennial vegetation along lakes, rivers, streams and public drainage ditches. The vegetation is intended to protect our water resources and provide habitat.
Deadlines for compliance:
Public Waters Buffers - November 1, 2017
Public Ditch Buffers - November 1, 2018
Compliance waivers can be obtained by filing a compliance plan with your Soil and Water Conservation District.
