Women learn about healthy eating during pregnancy and after the baby is born. How to provide nutritious foods for your baby. Woman also learn how to feed their baby and older children and how to keep children healthy with good nutrition.

WIC Foods
  • Milk and cheese provide protein and calcium for growth of strong bones and teeth.
  • Eggs, dried beans, and peanut butter gives you protein to build and repair body cells. Beans provide fiber and iron.
  • Cereal is another source of iron for healthy blood. Some cereals also have folic acid. This is important for women during child bearing years to prevent birth defects.
  • Juice provides you with Vitamin C to fight disease and to heal wounds.
  • Carrots and canned tuna are for breastfeeding women who are not feeding their babies formula. Carrots gives us Vitamin A to fight infection and promote good vision, proper growth and strong bones. Tuna provides protein to build and repair cells.
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby. Breast milk has the exact nutrition baby needs. It protects the baby from infections and illnesses. It also helps your baby’s eyes and brain develop. Iron-fortified infant formula is available from WIC for infants who are not breast-fed.
